how can i cover a sectional sofa with a slipcover?

Mz. Tenacious asked:

i have a microfiber sectional sofa that i thought would be easy to keep clean (at least that’s what the sales ppl told me), but it hasn’t turned out that way. I’ve been using table mats and table cloths to cover the sectional, but it just looks too tacky. I wanted to see if there are actual slipcovers for sectional sofas and if not, does anyone know how I can take a general slipcover(s) and “fix” it to work on my sectional. Any advice or comments are welcomed!

Cleaning up after ringworm?

wantatangazanga asked:

What do i need to do to control the spread of ringworm at home? I know bedding, towels, clothes need regular washing. Do I need to also wash my sofa slipcover?

What (UK) products are effective in killing the thing???

I want to avoid infecting my boyfriend, and reinfecting myself!

(Am happy to accept advice on body care, too… have heard salicylic acid and dandruff shampoos are useful as body washes…)

Thank you in advance for your help! (wish my NHS doctor would offer some…)
thanks for your responses; i’ve been using lanasil on the affected sites. was sort of wondering more about getting rid of any dormant spores in the home… will bleach kill it? how should i treat pillows and blankets, sofas, that sort of thing?

Is it “okay” to have a burgundy sofa (sofa slipcover) and a gold loveseat (gold slipcover)?

Lanie asked:

I have alot of pets and needed to cover worn living room furniture. I covered my sofa with a burgundy slipcover (with gold pillows ) and since I have so much burgundy color in the room anyway, I bought a gold colored slipcover for the loveseat. (with burgundy pillows on it) Now that I’ve already done it, I’m wondering if I should have done the loveseat in the burgundy also. I’m no Martha Stewart….what do some of you think? My walls are gold and I have a lot of burgundy colored tapestries on the wall…curtains are burgundy also. Thanks

Slip Covers. I’m looking for advice?

(◕ ,‿,◕) asked:

Long story short, I have a very nice love seat in storage but my aunt ‘borrowed’ the matching couch and ended up selling it… (She thought I “Gave” it to her… Sigh…)

So I am moving to a new apartment and will be pulling all my things out of storage and I am going to try and buy a couch that looks reasonably similar to my love seat.

The love seat is a blue and white checker pattern (Almost the same blue as the ‘continue’ button) and not only will that not go with my ‘new’ look, but I seriously doubt I could find something that matches.

What should I look for in a sofa slipcover? What are potential problems with them?

sevenwndrs asked:

I have 2 small children and 2 cats. The cats (whom I have not declawed because they are indoor/outdoor), have tore up each corner of both my sofa & loveseat while using them as a scratching post. There have also been a few accidents while changing my baby’s diapers on the sofa. So I pan to get them cleaned and then slipcover them both. But there are a few styles of clipcovers ~ snug/hug fit, relaxed fit that hangs, and then a combo of both. I have noticed that the combo fit (the latest style) is most attractive. The problem here is that the snug area of this cover is on the exact spots that my cats used to scratch. I am thinking that they will be able to get their claws into this as well. And if they can, they will as they have done the same to every corner of every mattress in the house. So lets say I go for the relaxed fit, is there any suggestions of what I should look for? Any problems with certain ones? Am I wrong about the snug fit being a continual issue with the cats? Thanx!

Sofa Slip Covers for the Perfect Look

Thinking of getting rid of that old sofa because the material is worn out or ripped? Consider putting a sofa slip cover over it first. Not only will you have a new looking sofa, but you’ll save a lot of money as well.

Sofa slip covers have come a long way from those days when grandma had the old plastic slipcovers over her furniture. You do remember that as a child right?

Today, stores such as the Pottery Barn and Surefit carry every type of cover for any piece of furniture imaginable.

For sofas, by far the most popular type of slipcover is the ready-made sofa slipcover. They are a one-piece cover that simply drapes over the sofa, couch or loveseat. They may also have elastic to help keep them fitting snug on your furniture.

Concerned about material or color choices? Don’t be. Sofa slipcovers are available in fabrics ranging from linen, denim, cotton, velvet, corduroy and a variety of others. You can’t help but find the fabric you like because they can be made from any material you want.

Color choices are endless as well. You’ll find solids as well as beautiful print patterns that can match up well with any season. For example, you may want a bright flowery pattern for Spring or a more subtle pastel look in the Fall. The choice is yours.

Sofa slip covers are designed to fit over any brand and size of sofa, sectional or loveseat. You simply tuck in the extra fabric between the back, seat and arm cushions.

If for some reason you have a size that doesn’t fit, you can always get a custom one made to fit.

It’s important to note that cleaning most slipcovers is as simple as tossing them into the washing machine. Just be sure to let them air dry and do not put them in the clothes dryer in order to avoid shrinkage.

So, if your favorite sofa is only suffering from worn out cushions or torn arm rests, don’t get rid of it. Get an inexpensive sofa slip cover and give it new life. You’ll be happy with the results.
